Google changed the look and feel of their Places Pages yet again, this time by removing the 3rd party reviews supplied by Local business portals like Yelp, Foursquare and Citypages. The results for many business owners are substantially reduced amount of reviews posted on their places page which has a direct effect on users interaction.
In the past, reviews from Yelp! and others were “attached” to Google Places pages to give searchers more content and provide info on the business itself. As a result of challenges from Yelp and the others who were accusing Google of using their content without monetary compensation, Google has decided to remove them all together and now only posts reviews submitted by Google users on Google own pages.
Google promises more changes to come.
